This Is For Our Sins

jacensolodjo There is something haunting about the family having zero clue about WW2 in its entirety. I remember learning about them and wondering and I still wonder now how many are still in the wilderness, driven there by atrocities or not. Many find being alone to be fear inducing. But they left and isolated out of fear to begin with. This music is just the tip of the iceberg for how haunting and emotional the situation is. It does its job as well as possible, though. Amazing. Favorite track: Famine and the Death of a Mother.

Augium My ears were embraced in a sobering poignance, whose gentle warmth and remorseful delicacy, for no lack of tempered cheeriness, swept over me in waves of emotion, graduating until it left me alone and ok again. I feel like I have been given a gift that has been a long time coming. Thank you. Favorite track: Silence of Siberia.

Caleb Bratcher It's not often that music manage to evoke emotion in the way this does. The varied structure drew me in only to rip my heart out with the namesake track. Fantastically done. Favorite track: This is For Our Sins.

The world knows no bounds We will not know the world This is for our sins Yours are stained with red
How will you get along without me?
A man lives for however long God grants
I too shall die of grief
You are now alone
Requiem 05:22
Go on, go on, go on, go on...

This album follows the story of the Lykov family, who lived isolated in the Russian wilderness for over 40 years before their discovery by geologists in 1978.

Agafia, born in the wilderness in 1943, is the last remaining member of the family. She continues to live in the harsh Siberian landscape to this day.
